Domestic abuse prevention team

Phone 999 or go to your for immediate help if you or someone else is in danger or a crime is in progress. If you are unable to speak, 999 operators can still connect you to police. The operator will listen for background noises. .

Our dedicated Domestic Abuse Prevention Team works to:

  • support the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Domestic Abuse Local Strategic Partnership
  • commission support ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ for survivors of domestic abuse
  • operate a community grants programme to support by and for domestic abuse ´ºÓêÖ±²¥
  • prevent abuse from occurring in the first place or from escalating in risk
  • offer training, communication and coordination across our networks to improve awareness of domestic abuse, its impact, and the local support ´ºÓêÖ±²¥

The team is part of the Early Intervention and Prevention department, aiming to:

  • provide the right help earlier to save lives
  • avoid worsening abuse
  • achieve better outcomes
  • reduce pressure on statutory crisis ´ºÓêÖ±²¥

The team is also closely linked with Adult Social Care, ensuring that we have a holistic approach to support all vulnerable citizens in our city.
